May was a month of steady developments and new feature introductions across the FSL ecosystem. The STEPN team held their May Townhall, during which they reviewed activity from the previous two months and announced two significant upcoming additions: Challenge Capsules and STEPNathon 2. These updates are designed to expand the user experience in both STEPN and STEPN GO with fun and dynamic challenges to keep people moving and active.
The new Challenge Capsule feature will add a gamified layer to the fitness journey in both STEPN and STEPN GO. Users open a Capsule to receive a specific timed challenge, which they then complete and verify through the SMAC anti-cheat system. Upon successful completion, participants receive tickets, which make them eligible to earn rewards such as GMT tokens, Sneakers, Shoe Boxes, and other items. Users participating in STEPN with high Resilience and in STEPN GO with high Charm will also receive a greater chance to win prizes, giving these attributes a new, long-awaited perk. The beta registration window for Challenge Capsules runs from May 27 to June 7, allowing just 500 lucky users to sign up and begin testing the mechanics early.

The Townhall also featured the official announcement of STEPNathon 2, set to take place from June 22 to June 29. For this event, participants are required to complete either a 21 km or 42 km distance in a single continuous session using either STEPN or STEPN GO. Those who finish successfully will receive exclusive badges and custom backgrounds, along with entries into a Genesis Sneaker raffle featuring an exclusive STEPNathon 2 skin. It is positioned as one of the major seasonal challenges for the year, and Yawn even made a commitment to try for the 42 km Badge in the May Townhall, so keep an eye on his X account for updates.

The Surprise GGBox campaign began in May, providing GGBox rewards to active STEPN and STEPN GO users for meeting specific criteria. The campaign lasts for four weeks, with users receiving GGBoxes for performing 5+ Energy over 24 hours in Week 1 and for holding OG Sneakers in STEPN in Week 2. Weeks 3 and 4 are yet to be released, so keep active for your chance to win! GGBoxes cost $1 to open and give users the opportunity to win prizes such as 100,000 GMT, 1,000 USDT, $50 XAUT, and limited Rabbids co-branded Genesis Sneakers. Alternatively, if users choose not to open them, they can also sell them on MOOAR for a little boost.

Marathon Season 2 also progressed as planned. Round 4 concluded on May 25, with rewards going to the teams that demonstrated the strongest consistency by hitting their daily Energy targets without any zero days. Round 5 started on the same day and is scheduled to run until June 8. This round includes a stronger focus on the STEPN team leaderboard, where squads of up to 20 members can compete together. Don’t forget to sign up for the Marathon Season Pass to unlock special rewards, including an exclusive Marathon S2 Sneaker and raffle tickets for special-skin Hare and Tortoise Sneakers, among many other things!
We appreciate the continued participation from the community throughout the month and look forward to seeing your feedback on the new features in the weeks ahead.
