STEPN and STEPN Go partnered with Guinness World Records, and we set out to break not just one, but two GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ titles: one for the most users to complete a remote one-mile distance in 24 hours and one for the most users to complete a remote one-mile distance in one hour. Having an opportunity to participate in a world record attempt is something STEPN community members had previously expressed significant interest in, so we knew we had to figure out a way to make it happen. At STEPN, we’re passionate about making community dreams a reality.
As part of the record attempt, STEPN also released limited edition Guinness World Records co-branded sneakers. The sneaker design was partially inspired by Mercury, known as “the messenger of the gods”, and his winged sandals. The collection of 300 sneakers was minted on the Solana Blockchain.
The Genesis Sneakers were launched via a Raffle Mint on our dedicated Marketplace, MOOAR, with four distinct designs. The event generated massive engagement and participation, locking in [TBC] Million USD in value during the raffle period.
Guinness World Record Attempts (November 23, 2024): Occurred over a 24-hour period
Raffle Mint (November 19 - November 22, 2024): In collaboration with Guinness World Records, MOOAR hosted a Raffle Mint featuring 300 limited edition STEPN co-branded OG sneakers. Participants had the chance to enter the Raffle Mint for 600 GMT per ticket. Refunds were provided to participants who did not win.
This partnership highlighted STEPN’s ongoing commitment to innovative community-focused collaborations with globally-recognized brands, and successfully bridged the gap between Web2 and Web3.
To encourage, and increase, community involvement in the record attempts every participant who completed their one-mile run received an exclusive Guinness World Records badge in the STEPN app.
